Course Description

Our DDI Pool Diver Course provides candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills required to dive safely in a confined water environment.

Candidates are required to complete all sections of the academic and confined water training of an Open Water Diver course. Certification and added safety measures stated on the individual’s certification card are similar to those of an Open Water Diver.

Once your DDI Pool Diver Course is completed your next step is DDI Scuba Diver! if you’re ready to take even a further step, you can easily upgrade your skills and take your diving to a higher level– DDI Open Water Course!

Prerequisites

To participate in a DDI Pool Diver course the candidate must:

  • dive to a recommended maximum depth of 12 m
  • dive in groups of up to four level 1 scuba divers per dive leader,
  • make dives which do not require in‐water decompression stops,
  • dive only when appropriate support is available at the surface,
  • dive under conditions that are equal or better than the conditions where they were trained.
  • sign and submit a statement of Risk And Liability Agreement for Disabled Divers International.

NOTE: If accompanied by a scuba instructor, a DDI Scuba Diver may gain progressive experience beyond these parameters and develop competency in managing more challenging diving conditions designed to lead to higher qualifications. Where further instruction is required this can only be provided by a suitably qualified scuba instructor.

Where only further experience is required, this may be supervised by a dive leader.

Assistance Requirement Levels

Level 1 – This candidate may dive with any other certified adult diver.

This candidate has performed all DDI skill requirements, knowledge development and physical stamina requirements of the training programs standards. This candidate have demonstrated the ability to provide equal assistance to a fellow diver, should a distress situation occur and assistance is required.

Level 2 – In order to fulfil the requirements of equal assistance to all divers in a distress situation, this requires the candidate to dive with two adult certified divers, one of whom must be trained as a DDI Assistant Diver or by a DDI recognised disabled diver program equal or higher certification level.

This candidate has performed DDI skill requirements demonstrating the ability of self-help in a distress situation. The candidate is unable to provide equal assistance to a fellow diver, should a distress situation occur and assistance is required.

Level 3 – In order to fulfil the requirements of equal assistance to all divers in a distress situation, this requires the candidate to dive with three adult certified divers, one of whom must be trained as a DDI professional diver or by a DDI recognised disabled diver program equal or higher certification level.

This candidate has performed the required skills of the Pool Diver course and demonstrated the ability to safely use scuba diving equipment. However, the candidate does not have the ability for self-help.

Please note: All course prices include complete rental from our range of the latest and most modern diving equipment; transportation to and from the dive sites or pool in one of our air-conditioned mini-buses or by RIB boat; plus DDI certification/diploma on successful completion of your course or program.
